Responsibilities

Oaktree is seeking an innovative self-starter with a passion for and proficiency in maintaining productivity and efficiencies in capital markets, investments and finance.  There is an opportunity to join our Capital Solutions team as Vice President to lead our origination vehicle solution, which centralizes all seasoning and warehouse activity across Oaktree funds.  The Vice President will also assist with subscription line/capital call, NAV/asset-based and hybrid facilities across all our funds.  Oaktree's investment teams have historically managed these activities separately.

  • Oaktree Origination Vehicle Solution (OVS) program lead, assist with cash management and strategic advisory on sublines:
  • Lead OVS day to day process and escalate if there is a deviation from OVS workflow/key controls
  • Manage seasoning and warehouse portfolios - partner with various teams across the firm to ensure positions are moving through the workflow process in a timely manner and client risk/concentration limits are being followed
  • Track subline utilization, borrowing base trends to support recommendations for upsizing/downsizing sublines
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of reports supporting OVS and subline processes including analytics around key metrics and recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Support client-facing materials in coordination with the Client Relations team
  • Partner with investment and operations teams to optimize cash management and leverage monitoring of origination vehicles, escalate if we are not complying with origination vehicle LPA controls or the subline policy
  • Monitor industry trends and research to inform actionable financing strategies and help strengthen Oaktree's position within the private capital markets

 

Data management initiatives:

  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of a master database for Origination Vehicle Solutions ecosystem and maintain the master database for subscription lines, NAV and asset-based facilities in addition to a firm wide wallet share and legal fee tracking database, ensuring accuracy and clarity
  • Oversee implementation of 3rd party workflow management software, OVS and Axon tools
  • Liaise with data management, information solutions to automate as much of the work as possible
  • Prepare internal and external presentations and reports on time, with accuracy and clarity
  • Build effective working relationships with banks and internal stakeholders
  • Serve as internal contact for fund finance inquiries from portfolio managers, relationship managers, investment professionals, legal, corporate and accounting teams
  • In conjunction with Head of Capital Markets and Capital Markets Managing Directors, foster and enhance lender, independent advisor relationships through regular relationship reviews, industry participation, and conferences
  • Assist with transaction execution of new subscription line, NAV, asset-based and hybrid facilities and lead extensions/amendments:
  • Partner with the internal teams to gather information and prepare materials to ensure productive investment team meetings throughout the process
  • Coordinate with lenders, external counsel and internal teams (accounting, legal, finance, investment teams, tax, KYC) to facilitate transaction documentation and compliance with key controls throughout the process
  • Continually monitor facilities and make recommendations to upsize/downsize as appropriate
  • Check standard execution processes and escalate deviations immediately
  • Assist with maintaining database and reports supporting Capital Solutions processes and key metrics

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant business experience, which may include a background in consulting/investment banking or advisory, finance, capital markets, strategic planning and corporate development
  • Outstanding analytical, project management and process improvement skills and experience leveraging technology to streamline workflows, enhance scalability and reduce risk
  • Must have experience managing team members that report directly and indirectly (comfortable working seamlessly across functional business lines)
  • Strong ability to quickly synthesize challenges and effectively tell a story through consumable materials
  • Experience working with and reviewing large sets of data including data manipulation in logical data structures and reconciliations;
  • Ability to manage tasks accurately and completely with competing priorities and deadlines (independently driving projects to completion with measurable results)
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty and a proven track record in solving complicated problems
  • Expertise preparing and reviewing complex financial models combined with ability to communicate clearly and effectively

 

Personal Attributes

  • The individual must have exceptional financial modeling skills and be very advanced in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI/Python/Database experience is preferred
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate considerable ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; must be able to drive work effectively with limited supervision while representing department and management interests
  • The candidate must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • The individual must possess strong integrity and professionalism and exhibit sound judgment and decision that balance a variety of factors
  • Ability to interface with different stakeholders and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Base Salary Range: $225,000 - $250,000
