Strategic & Corporate Development

Oaktree is seeking a Senior Vice President to work as a member of the Corporate Development team.  This group works closely with Oaktree’s senior management and investment teams to identify, develop and execute on the firm’s strategic growth priorities. The group’s mandate includes driving strategic M&A activity in addition to organic growth initiatives for the firm; these initiatives may include the development of new investment strategies and the expansion of Oaktree’s existing investment strategies into new product structures and distribution channels. The team regularly conducts market and competitor analysis to ensure the firm is current on industry trends.  The group is also tasked with enhancing and institutionalizing Oaktree’s relationships with the largest Wall Street banks and service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Structuring and negotiating acquisition transactions and joint ventures.
  • Analyzing markets, investment products and new business opportunities to assist in developing recommendations on the appropriate strategy for Oaktree.
  • Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis, including due diligence, valuation, competitive benchmarking and industry / sector studies.
  • Building detailed and complex financial models.
  • Preparing presentations for senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the general efforts of the Corporate Development team.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to direct reports and other team members to ensure high performance and accountability.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of business experience , which may include a background in investment banking, finance, strategy consulting.  Alternative asset management is a plus.
  • Outstanding analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks with competing priorities and deadlines, while independently driving projects to completion.
  • Expertise at preparing and reviewing complex financial models.

Personal Attributes

  • The individual must have exceptional financial modeling skills and be very advanced in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate considerable initiative and be a self-starter.
  • The candidate must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • He/She will be team-oriented and collaborative and must possess strong integrity and professionalism.

Education

Bachelor’s degree with honors from a top university or college.

In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement.  The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
