Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Investment Reporting and Data Analyst will be responsible for managing the following functions including but not limited to managing and overseeing and the reporting of data for statutory and regulatory compliance with the NAIC Securities Valuation Office (“SVO”) by scouring data and engaging multiple teams. 

INVESTMENT DATA RECONCILIATION & ANALYSIS:

• Maintain the integrity of the investment financial data with a focus on credit rating data by reviewing and analyzing differences identified in the investment data warehouse for accurate reporting and decision-making impacting regulatory compliance with NAIC.
• Conduct regular quality checks to ensure data integrity, troubleshoot data-related issues, and propose solutions for improvement between the Company’s primary investment systems (Princeton for Investments, also known as PAM for investment accounting, BlackRock/Aladdin for investment operations, the data warehouse, and external sources of investment/ratings data).
• Monitors trade activity for compliance and complete/accurate security master file set up.
• Utilizes information from front, middle and back offices to investigate data differences between the Company’s various investment management and accounting systems.
• Utilizes technical and operational capabilities to make improvements to EquiTrust's investment accounting and reporting processes to ensure compliance and manage risks around data integrity.
• Participates in the updating, maintenance and organization of an investment data warehouse which is utilized to ensure appropriate controls within investment workflows and integrity of investment data with a focus on investment credit ratings.
• Remains knowledgeable of upcoming regulatory and statutory reporting changes impacting areas of duties and responsibilities. 

INVESTMENT EXCEPTION REPORTING AND RATING COMPLIANCE WITH NAIC: 

• Manages internal investment rating exceptions process (“Jumpstart”) and reporting across front, middle and back offices.
• Oversees the process for obtaining timely investment credit ratings and obtaining updates where applicable and ensures compliance with reported credit rating information to the NAIC.
• Monitors and remediates unmatched or missing credit ratings with the NAIC SVO.
• Executes private letter rating filings (and annual updates) with the NAIC SVO (Vision/AVS+ Systems) and tracks upcoming/expected updates or changes to completion.
• Files for Private Placement Numbers with CUSIP Global Services (“CGS”) for private investments and follows up internally and/or CGS on unresolved matters.
• Reviews and analyzes information from credit rating agencies and private letters to ensure adherence to filing based on regulatory requirements with NAIC SVO.
• Supports teams as necessary for any audit or regulatory requests related to investment credit ratings. 

ADDITIONAL AREAS OF FOCUS:
• Supports the development and maintenance of Company policies and procedures relating to investment accounting, reporting, and investment regulatory filing processes.
• Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested to accomplish department and Company objectives.
• Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment

Training or Work Experience

• Minimum 5 years of financial industry experience in investment accounting and operational roles with focus on various investment asset classes required.
• Working knowledge of investment accounting and operations systems required.
• Experience working with databases and performing root-cause analyses to correct data errors and uphold data integrity. 

Education:

• Bachelors Degree- Accounting or Finance Required

Working Conditions:

• On-Site Location: Chicago, Illinois.
• Infrequent travel (less than 5% of the time).
